Project Euro continues after 10years off the road...

Featured Replies

It's been 10 years since my beloved polo gt coupe came off the road and then money went into other hobbies...as they do!

Until now when my dad decided he needed the parking space and so i got to work and here she currently stands, bare in mind i've got a couple more small jobs to do but she's pretty much there :)

I never got rid of her :)

that's a tricky one, originally she was a box standard black GT, then i did this:

Unfortunately whilst it was stood in my dads garage over the 10 years it had got some knocks and scratches and the paint job was a one off so I would have to do it all again, for now I've done the satin black two tone split before I get the cash together to properly get it done.

This looks lush mate!

Love the Paint Job mate goes really well.

The alloys suit the car as well which is sometimes a let down with builds!

Good work! :D

I remember the tag, if not the car, welcome!

This thread has made me realise it's been ten years for me here on the site, precisely; Dec '05 - Dec '15. Been through a lot, feels like twenty..

cheers! its been so much fun driving it since getting it back on the road too, makes you realise how much vehicles have changed and taken the fun out ofthe sentence 'sence of driving' out.

My step daughter's only ever had fly-by-wire and she doesn't understand what i mean by driver-connection. But i don't really want to let her drive the MK2..

Are you local to Sale by any chance? pretty sure I saw this outside a garage near where I work

  • Author

Yes, that's my dad's garage on dane road. I live in Prestwich now

Ah no way! Car looked stunning, nearly missed my turning staring at it .

Mk11 brake set up

Now to wait for the gearbox and begin the conversion...exciting times!

Very nice! Was the conversion from GT to G40 easy enough?

  • Author

It wasn't hard as the gt has a number of things the g40 has, it's use the fine tuning that's taking time

Looks good man!

You had a good drive yet?

  • Author

Not yet, still got some more work to do before I can get it on the road
