Hi, looking to upgrade the seats in my mk2 polo to something a bit more comfortable and hugging a bit better. Thinking about getting either some of those classic bucket seats without the headrests or a set of old recaros from an mk2 escort/fiesta/Astra, would these be too wide?

Also what are the chances of getting them matched to my interior? It's a funny light greyish colour I think, I'm colour blind :P

other than finding grey ones you wont match up the vw cloth

could find some vynil door cards so they dont stand out

Why's that? Because of copyrights to the fabric or just its not that desirable so no one makes any?

The interior is mint and it's a rare spec so was hoping to keep it as close as I could, maybe no sporty seats after all :(

not much market for cloth for old polos , theres a couple of patterns avail for the mk2 golf but its expensive to buy and expensive to get it done

Hmm maybe not then. It seems the options are do the entire interior which I don't really fancy my bank balance liking or not at all.

Unless a general grey fabric could be found close to it I guess, you got any ideas for a general seat reupholster? I know it depends on the materials greatly.

The interior is really good condition, so I would like to keep it looking as original as possible. Plus the car isn't really attention grabbing, more sleeper/classic looks.

theres a scirroco seat that matches a certain polo rear bench

I was quoted, by a local upholsterer, £100 a seat with me supplying the material. It's not cheap

£100 for a set of 4? That sounds good. I got a quote of £100 to replace a leather bolster.

As someone said above, get a similar rear bench, take the covers off and in pick the stitching so your left with the centres and bolsters separate. It may even pay to remove the covers of the new sets and do the same. Then turn up to the trimmers and ask them to fit the old centres to the new bolsters. If it's quiet you could even get away with just giving the guy a drink for his time.

The majority of the cost is in the donkey work, it can sometimes take over an hour to get one cover off.

Also, ironically I have been looking into doing something similar with a 6n interior and have found that there are aerosol dyes, so perhaps use a black one (if the seats are black) on some less desirable door panels to match them. They seem to do all sort of colours so may be worth looking into.
