Right, I have insured my Polo through Elephant, and as a result, I am gaining NCB through that policy.

However, I am also a named driver on another car, insured through Direct Line - now, Direct Line have a policy where ALL named drivers gain NCB.... Am I able to combine the NCB from both policies? or just the Polo?

i think you may find that direct lines NCB for named drivers is only valid with them.

so if you were to go to another insurer you may have problems, as is the same with elephants 10 month bonus accelarator.

Most NCB is done with the policy being yours and not just a named driver.

No, you're not able to combine - a year's accident-free motoring is still a year's accident-free motoring no matter how many cars you're insured on! You can't accumulate bonus faster than 1 per year (unless as noted above using the accelerator schemes)

however you may be able to use both NCBs if you had two cars as you can build up multiple NCBs with different policies on different cars. But as someone else said, it's highly likely that other companies wont recognise the named driver NCB from Direct Line.

Really? I thought you could use it anywhere. So if you get 1 years NCB with elephant you can only renew with them to take advantage of the NCD? What if I got a cheaper quote from, say, rac would I have to wait 2 months before elephant let me have the certificate?

Na, the 10 months with Elephant is the equivilant of 1 year.

When I left Elephant I had a renewal notice stating I had accumalated 3yrs no claims, my new insurance company accepted that!
