Hi

I have a 6N2 Polo with central locking. When I activate a front door lock I can hear a relay click in the central locking pump but the pump motor does not activate. I assumed that the pump is faulty, so I bought a second hand unit from ebay. This second unit has the same behaviour - click but no motor noise. Either I have two units with the same fault or something else is going on.

Any thoughts please?

Have you checked all the fuses ?? #'s 26, 38, 39 & 41 if they are all good, you can check you are getting a supply at the pump unit, with NO ignition on, there should be 12v on pins 1 & 2 (red/white wires) with the ignition ON there should be 12v on pin12 (Black wire) Then when you turn the key to lock/unlock you should get 12v on pins 7 or 10 (White/Yellow & White/Green wires) depending what way you turn the key

Thanks very much for your reply. I have now had a chance to check the wiring. I'm afraid I gave wrong information. I actually have a 6N1 Polo (not 6N2), which means that there are only 6 connections to my central locking pump.

Pin 1 is 12V. Pins 7 or 10 get 12V when I lock/unlock the doors. So that all looks good.

What I am unsure about is pin 4 (Black/red wire). This is permanently at 0V. My Haynes manual shows it coming from the 'LH front central locking actuator'. This is another switch contact but I don't know where it is. Perhaps it provides feedback from the actuators?

Please can you help me identify this device? If it's in a door, which door would it be in on a RH drive (UK) car?

That pin 4 should be either ground or +12v depending on the switch position inside the drivers lock unit, from memory, it clips into the lock unit, so it might of dislodged giving the pump the indication it's already unlocked and that's why the pump isn't running

Great thread, wonder if this is similar problem with mine? I hear the central locking activating, the passenger side door opens now and again, rear boot does now and again too, will not lock all...
