Yeah mate then I would say greater Manchester..pretty close to the center.

Your needle should be in the middle and pretty much stay there, low oil definitely will heat it up more but so will low coolant so check that too, I'm guessing thermostat and everything is fine as it would get to the top of the dial If it was seized, is your fan kicking in as well? This would cause a rise in temp as well if it wasn't working in traffic, if it isn't then a new thermoswitch is needed and is a straight screw into radiator job...thankfully I have overcame all my overheating troubles...took me long enough though

Yeah, topped off the coolant already, just hoping there's no airlocks. Planning to do a full flush and an oil change after I've sorted the oil leak. Pretty sure it's the sump that's leaking.

Yeah, fan, thermoswitch and thermostat all work, checked them over. Don't think it's a blocked rad as it only happens in traffic.

Yeah apparantly the switch is a common leak, I would check through yours and the rocker gasket and what not first as it could easily be looking like the sump and actually be coming from above, I say that because the sump isn't the nicest of gaskets to change and it would be a pain to go through all that to find its something else lol

Yeah, mine has a mechanical fuel pump mounted on the back of the cylinder head, that had been leaking until recently when I sealed it with a new o-ring. Really made a mess too

Yeah, I'll have another scout round, may end up doing the sump anyway, as the residual oil is enough to be dripping on the exhaust downpipe. Want a full stainless exhaust at some point so I don't want it ruined!!
