scrap price cat converter 1.4 mk3 polo

Featured Replies

What scrap price could I expect from a 1.4 mk3 polo catalytic converter? been quoted between £25-£60

But don't want the bloke turning up and saying it's only worth £25 to him when in fact it's worth £40

Cheers

depends on if the other £15 is his profit otherwise theres no point taking it

Considering after a 3 second search online a new pattern one can be had for £55 delivered, then I'd say you'll be lucky to get £25 let alone £40.

Also got to remember this bloke that is taking it is probably going to sell it on and the profit margins will be slim once you take into account his fuel/time etc.

Is it an original of has it been replaced?

If there's a SIMS metal scrapyard near you take it there, they're that big, the bloke in the shed has no reason to lie to you.

it's original and just wanted to make sure is all..

Unless your taking it to the scrap yard you got to leave some profit in their for the guy your selling it to. I regularly move scarp loads 25 ton at a time for people like the above mentioned Sims Metal and the last few months scrap price has been on its ass. Some of the scrap yards only give £30-£50 for the whole car as they have to de-polute the car removing engine, battery, crush it and then pay someone to take it to a processing site.

Normally i can carry about 26 cars but the distance is stupid imo. Loads from Exeter to Derby or Gloucester to Sheffield (Depends on who the customer has accounts with) i have done with these cars. I don't know how anyone is making money.

It's £40 a ton for mixed metals (scrap cars) around here. You can tell when scrap prices are low because metal merchant yards are over flowing as they store it away hoping for it to go up. Seems to of been real low for a good while now

I sold a seat Ibiza for scrap last week in the Hertfordshire area for £60 and that's basically a polo so I don't see why it would be so low?

Was that for a whole car though? Seems about right with the current scrap price.

I remember when the price was decent putting a shell away for that.

Scrap price has nearly halved in the last year. Its why Redcar just closed the steel plant.

£20 a ton now! its ridiculous but i did get £25 for 4 alloy wheels and a old battery but someone as i was there rang in to get a scrap price on there full vectra £30 if that.

i will have a cat to scrap in soon as I'm breaking a 2f

Not a good time to be in the scrap trade. Thing is even if the price goes up again any time soon, the market will be flooded by all the yards who have been storing it cashing in, and the price will plummet again.

It'll be a good while before we'll see any decent price for scrap cars again.

The best thing to be scrapping currently is brass, I got £45 for an old truck rad. But also just scrapped an old corsa, I was offered free disposal.. No cash value as they had to come pick it up

All Corsa's have no cash value. I think they should all be scrapped, horrible things that they are.

So you paid £10 for a Corsa? I'd rather burn the £10....

It drove me round for 5 months whilst neither of my polos would work... so It was kinda worth the £10
