Has anyone fitted mk3 Golf struts to the 6N? I've found references to doing this but not found anyone who's actually done it.

I have golf ones on the front. Seem very similar if not exactly the same when side by side.

Springs fit perfectly, sits right and rides fine.

I guess if there was a difference then it would be inside, but this seems unlikely.

The rears are defiantly different as the stop for the spring plate is about an inch higher, so unless you have a seriously short spring then they can't be used.

Just to add some more info for others. The VR6 shock is identical from the spring seat to the upright mounts. The shock body is slightly longer, 5-10mm, than the original vw shock. The rod is around 20mm longer so there's upto 160mm of travel. The ones I bought came with lowered springs. Just bolting the full assembly to the car, including the Golf top mount which is deeper than the Polo, lowered the car by 5mm. I think the Polo mount will lower by another 10-15mm. I don't know what the poundage of these springs are but the Golf VR6 spring is around 170lb/in so a good upgrade. One of the VR6 springs is 185lb/in. Good for anyone looking at cheap motorsport. The Corrado VR6 spring is 15mm shorter than the Golf and nearly 170 lb/in.

Just to add to this. If you buy a cheap kit like TA Technics/JOM etc the fronts are the same.
