Did the mk2/f ever come with a boot light?

Would there be a way to fit one in an oem way? Ie no drilling holes etc

As far as I know only the loons had em, the coupes and breadys didn't

I have found out however that a light in the centre of the plastic cover on the boot door is positioned perfectly to illuminate the boot... one option would be to get ahold of a second dome light, cut a hole in the plastic for it and wire it up. Wouldn't actually be OEM, but would look it to anyone who didn't know anything about Polos

not seen one as standard , if you dont want to drill look at the ebay led strips , they're self adhesive flexible strips that you could hide under the catch area or speaker shelf and they're very bright

Sorry, I meant drilling for a switch. How could we go about using a switch on the latch

I had a look and there isn't a place for a light unit under the shelf brackets so I guess I will need to get creative :) I have got a box of interior lights from a local breakers so will see which fits best.

The switch side of things I think will be a little trickier

I just bought a magnetic one from Wilkinsons and stuck it to the back of the seat. Works perfectly. Just switch off and on with button. Best simple upgrade I've done.

I think I'm going to have to give up on fitting a light as the latch mechanism is going to need a bracket made and a switch and it's just too much right now so I think I'm going to go the magnetic light route.

£4.99 and it lights the entire boot up when needed.
