3rd party insurance claim advice !?

Featured Replies

Hello,

So my car was parked at a friends house and the next day when i got to my car a note was left under windshield and someone has reversed into me which has resulted in scratched and dented door and wing! So i gave this guy a call and he is apparently a insurance broker . He asked how i wanted to deal with this and asked me to get some quotes and send them to him at his companys address. I know for a fact that the quote will be around 800 + due to been in this position before , the car is valued at 600 so my insurance will class it as a economical right off.... i dont know if i should ring my insurance company as dont want another broker to get involved if they start using all legal stuff i will not have a clue what to do as he said i was parked in a awquard position ! There was soo much room its actually hilarious . This guy is in his 60s and apparently likes a drink when he visits his holiday home "where the incident took place" what do i do ? Shall i ring my insurance for advice ? He is going to be ready to hit me with his 30+ legal experience and I'm not ready ... atleast the insurance will do everything for me "this is what i pay them to do" but i also appreciate the fact he left his number so dont want to sting him ... any help ? If this goes through insurance they will take the car and send me a cheque which i would oviously prefer . Wouldnt anyone?

phone your insurance and let them deal with it.

The £800+ quote would only be if you used new panels surely? Why not see if you can get straight panels second hand and then it is just the cost of paint. The bill will likely only be a couple hundred quid then.

Didn't you have a claim under a year ago as well?

What you have to think about is, if you do go through insurance even though the incident clearly wasn't your fault, your premiums will still go up.

If you are not bothered too much about the car though it might be worth looking up their current market value, see how much you are likely to get for it if the insurance write it off.

Yes i had a claim not long ago in my other car . A truck drove into me whilst parked but that was with previous insurer and also happened to me a few year ago in another car whilst parked lol its like I'm a target .. if i went with a independant smaller repairer it would only cost a few hundred but i had a car sprayed by one of the smaller ones and it was shocking . When it comes to bodywork you cant skimp it always ends up been shit .. the main company here is called trenams they are a specialist in accident repair and my quotes from there have always beem 700+ for small stuff .. the other forum i use said just get a quote and he will not want to get his broker involved especially if he is managing director of the company .. so will prob pay me off with a cheque and keep car .. just like the insurance company will do but with loads less paperwork/hastle .... i think i will just get the quote and email him it ... i dont really want the car repairing its not worth it .. its a 03plate 1.6 focus would say its worth around 6-800
