I started wet sanding from 1500 grit, Then 200 grit and finally 3000 grit today. Went to halfords and bought a drill bit attachment with some polishing pads. Used g3 compound with the lambs wool pad and then gave it a polish and wax by hand . results below

By the way i removed the excess polish from the tow cover and those lil marks on the side are not scratches its the reflection . Not bad for a rattle can job from halfords. Alot of people on other forums claims halfords paints are crap and they flake off , its all down to the prep work.

I defo think its better than the old style as it looks more modern. Reason i bought these fog lights was because they were much cheaper than the oem ones .

Got abit emotional looking how she is. Aint gona lie i shed a tear too:-(:crybaby: .

She's been sitting there for the past 3 years (moved from one lock up to another) i kinda gave up on her since my lock up got broken into and my engines and wheels, tools, engine crane got robbed.

Alot of thinking and now ive decided that my mk2 needs more attention than the polo as its worth more not just in value but sentimental value.  soo no engine conversion for the polo, Just use and enjoy it and maintain it while i slowly start on the mk2 build end of xmas .

Thanks mate. It will defo be on the road by next year either with a 16v ABF or 20vt. More likely 16v ABF as i would like to keep it 16v. will see what happens then . Hows your bumpers turned out?

Nimal

They turned out good, just letting the paint settle for a week before wet sand and polish

Need to have a look at you and your daughter's breadvan build thread .

My toy is my polo saloon, which i bought through this site. Its had a rear bump but the bumper took most of the impact and also the rear panels.

I Have bought a new rear lights panel, lights and replacement bumper.

Plans are to strip the interior, bigger engine - poss turbo, suspension mods and maybe rear cage.

That id like to see. you have a build thread ?

I haven't started it yet as i have been working on my 6N1 16V bumpers and then the breadvan is next so im thinking of next year. Maybe de-bumper it but definitely take of the rubbing strips and fit wider arches

Anyhow, here is how it sits now
