This definitley wont be to everybodys taste. Thought for some that had a bit of a French past may be interested.

The car was an innocent 1 litre 50hp Peugeot 106 series 1 in Miami Blue.

I bought the car as soon as I passed my test as I could not wait for £400 with 72000 miles on the clock. It had poverty spec bumpers, trim interior and everything.

As soon as I bought it I sourced a Rallye front bumper and soon after the Rallye Rear bumper and arches had to be bought too. I had them all professionally sprayed in Miami blue to match the body work and the rear arches needed cutting as they were Flat arch (similar to a Breadvan)

I swapped the whole interior for a Rallye interior that I found for sale and added a nice new OMP tiny 300mm steering wheel. (Made it even more like a go-kart)

I also had Compomotive M05 15 inch Alloys with 195/45/15's fitted and it then cornered like a go cart due to sticky rubber and a bigger contact patch.

I had a Piper Backbox and had the piper Center pipe made to match to make it sound stupid when I was doing 12mph flat out .

The 4 speed gearbox was swapped for a 5 speed to help with motorway driving as I did a lot of it.

Had some daft Induction kit which made it sound awesome

Other than that suspension was standard although the rear came down a tad (torsion bar suspension = free lowering) and I had drilled and grooved discs and Ferodo pads which I got to use for about 30 miles before I sold it

Anyway got to over 110.000 miles hassle free. went through a clutch and a speedo cable and a rocker gasket....thats it. Then sold on for £450

So many memories and I was not mechanically minded at all at the time, I would definitely love to get another one for the track or something one day and do the project properly with an engine swap and four stud swap with disc'd and arb'd rear.

Anyway feel free to post your hate, theres a lot of stuff I did which I wouldnt do now but for what it was when i had no knowledge at all, I'm still pretty proud of how it turned out

I like the S1 106's. Nice looking cars. Yours is a nice example.

My 3rd and 7th cars were Saxo VTRs. Basically the same as a 106.

I still maintain they were the cars that taught me how to drive. Nothing does lift-off oversteer like it and they are an absolute blast to chuck around twisty B-roads. I'm convinced a well driven Saxo or 106 will destroy pretty much anything on a twisty road.

I completely agree on the handling front, nothing in the same class can handle as well i dont think, i chucked that thing round corners at any speed I wanted and never felt the consequence, Although I also had a saxo which i wrote off in the wet being a bit too brisk but had i not had cheap Mohawk bald tires on it wouldn't have happened i suspect. Pity is I had a VTR engine which never got to see the bay and a part of me wants to get a GTI/Rallye/VTR/VTS on the side to finish what i barely experienced

Thanks mate, its one of the only french cars i ever liked really because of the rallye, If i knew what i know now it would have been ten times better though, Makes me want to wind back the clock!

Great cars the 106 for handling my brother had a 1.6 16v and it was superb. My mate back in the day had a black 106 rallye with white rims great looking car.

Me too mate I crave one haha would have to be 8v still too though

I'm not sure at all where it is now, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a cube now as the miles were high when I got rid and the guy I sold it too wasn't a hands on guy as such, I suspect if anything went wrong and it costed a bit he would get rid.

I have even checked my old phones looking for call history and anything I can to find who I sold it to but no luck, even if it needed a good bit tlc I would have it back right now to sort it out

One of my mates has a Rallye that has been converted to a 16v lump on Jenvey throttle bodies. The noise is awesome and with over 200bhp it fairly gets down the road!

I saw a few on 106 owners on throttle bodies that were around that mark, I faintly remember a white one owned by someone called luke? Can't remember if he was 16v though.

If I had mine back I would just run original 8v on injection but would love a non standard one too although I would probably do that with a xsi or gti
