Hi I'm looking at lowering my at and just wondering what people have on theirs and what's it like in the corners? Need more stability and be able to rag it round corners hahaha

Anyone got any shockers and springs for sale by any chance?

There are so many options and there is no right or wrong answer really.

Mainly comes down to personal taste, driving style and budget.

Most people will go for the TA Technix lowering kits, you can't really go lower for less but they are known for being very stiff so pretty much takes away all the comfort. I'd say spend a bit more money on the shocks, even if you got cheap TA springs, having decent shocks will be a big improvement.

If you want decent handling then just springs and shocks won't do much. You need to look at ARB blocks (recommended even if just lowering) nylon bushes in the TCAs and some bracing at the front in the form of a 'GED bar' or a subframe. So if you are going to go through all that you don't want to go cheap on the springs and shocks.

Me personally I'm on GAZ shocks coilovers all round, G40 TCAs with nylon ARB bushes, Nylon rear beam bushes, Nylon ARB blocks and a stage 2 subframe. It is a fantastic setup...but by no means cheap.

you get what you pay for. if on a tight budget try a small drop (eibach / kilen springs etc) on standard shocks, preferably new.

Yeah that sounds expensive that set up but sounds mint haha

I was thinking of getting lowering springs on the standard shockers but it will still roll wont it?

My budget is about £100-£150 so really cheap, not really arsed for the comfort, I want a go kart haha

Gunna put a support bar under back and front and brace over top of engine for stability if that stiffens anything up?

To answer your original question... on the floor

"Ged" bars are pretty pointless on a mk2 due to them already being braced across the front from the factory, unlike the mk2f. Lowering anything over about 40mm isn't advised on standard dampers, especially old ones. Budget lowering kits are cheap for these but you get what you pay for, they are very stiff and don't tend to last too long before popping seals. They are the only real budget way to any kind of lows on these cars tho

Mines down 40 on Gaz shocks and eibach springs (I thibk) with 195/45 tyres and ARB blocks and it handles pretty well.
