Apologies for what is possibly a really stupid question, but here goes.

Passenger window on my 6n has snarled its cable. Found the online instructions and also the repair kits on ebay.

Previously when I've repaired my old Citroen you are working "backwards/blind" in the door itself, but people seem to have removed the internal metal sheet from within the door. You can then turn this round and see what you are doing. See pic below.

Is this correct, and its then just the case of bolting the innards back into the door itself.

I did not fancy working blind again, so was on the look out for a complete door to exchange, however if it is as above, its probably within my skill set.

mine did the same, and is currently bolted up in a fixed position.

You can get cable kits from ebay etc, I did this, started to fit it and then realised the cables I had been sent were the wrong length, or at least one of the cable sleeves (correct term?) were the wrong length, so I couldn't use it. What I intend to do, is to make sure the cable measurements are same as the original before I pay for another.

I suppose the company I brought it from either packaged the wrong item (although it was labelled 'vw polo') or manufactured it badly.

Maybe I was just unlucky. Otherwise, I got the impression that the cable would have been fairly easy to fit.
