1.4tdi (AMF engine) camshaft removal

Featured Replies

Hello, I've identified a worn camshaft on my 1.4tdi (AMF)

I have a Haynes manual for the car but miraculously it doesn't appear to explain how to remove it. I can find it for the petrol model.

Anyway, I'm hoping somebody can shed some light on this for me. My car has done 118k miles and the camshaft is clearly worn. I've bought another on great condition with lifters, though mine don't appear to be damaged. I caught this early I think.

I have quite a large amount of tools but not much space to work. My knowledge isn't fantastic on cars but I've changed, brakes, turbos, exhausts etc. I've never touched anything in the engine or around the timing belt though incase I knacker things. Even though I do have a timing kit Haha, never been used.

Thanks a lot, I can't seem to open it right now. I registered to the forum with Google via tapatalk and for some reason I cannot login outside this app. Which section is is the document in?

Ok finally sorted it, had to request a new password which then made my account validated.

I've had a look at the documents.

Remove engine mount

Remove timing belt

Remove tandem pump

Remove rocker cover and camshaft rockers

Remove camshaft?

So is this the same process on the 1.9tdi engines? I've seen similar to my 3 pot engine, looks like the only difference between them is the extra cylinder. Such as those found in other vag cars.
