Then I redid my grill with pin stripe tape

Finally I put everything back on including the bumper which I'm sure isn't one for a polo but for a golf because it's too wide

Sorry about the poor photos I'll try and get some better ones soon

Also I've bought some wheel trims from 'Vic' so thanks for that

Finally if anyone has a front bumper they'd be willing to sell then that would be ideal

Thanks

First of all happy Christmas etc,

Recently I've been doing some useful jobs.

I fitted my headunit and speakers

Thanks

Looking good matey. May I ask where u bought your new wheeltrims from? Been looking for these types for ages.

Thanks mate!

I'm afraid I bought them of a 'Vic' off of this forum. They're used but almost everything about them seems new. You're best bet is posting in the wanted section for some, that's what I did.

Cheers matey

Thanks

Looks like you are pretty handy with a tin of paint.

But please please please put the front bumper back on :sorry:

Don't you worry once live found one that actually fits it'll be going straight back on, I'm not a massive fan of the no bumper look. But seriously if you know anyone that has a front bumper for sale let me know!

Yeah nice paint work, nice trims to go on too. It looks like its in good hands!

Thanks mate, I like to think I treat it well

Quick question mate, haven't done much car painting myself:

When you mask it off, do you not get a visible line where the new paint is added? Yours looks so well blended, just curious...

I tend to not mask off panels and just blend the paint instead (ie I spray heavy on the area I'm painting then fade into the non damaged area) but if I'm painting one panel I do mask of the next adjoining panel if you dig. If you were to just mask off an area of one panel and spray paint next to the masking then it would leave a very prominent line.

i just learned 100% off of you tube so give that a go mate

Go for it pal, yeah rattle cans off of eBay but they're irritatingly expensive, £15 per can in my case!

What is the code or actual name of the blue colour of your polo. I also have a blue breadvan which i bought for my 11yr old daughter that we are restoring and when i phoned VW for the code they could not find it from the chassis or registration number

Wow what a nice gift haha, I'd freak out if I got given a car when I was 11! Do you have a picture? Mine's LA5B marine blue but there's more than one blue for mk2s and I wouldn't want you to get it wrong

If you look in the parts for sale i have a picture of it above my advert selling a full set of rubbing strips

Yours looks exactly the same as my daughters

Also if you look on the website 'detailing world' under the title polo for my daughter then its also in there with more pictures and the website is also a good read, just like this one.

  • Author

Yeah mate looks the same colour, looks like a nice build you have.

Its getting there. I have 2 new front wings for it too

Where'd you get the front wings?

Ebay. 1 is off a company and the other was a private advertiser. They seem good quality too. Just type in polo front wing and it will bring them up

I'm so happy with how they turned out but I'd be lying if I said it was anything other than a ball ache. Be ready to spend at least 2 hours on this if you did do it.

I've also recently received some money from my god father to lower the car a bit (not entirely sure why but hey ho). I'm not too sure what to get suspention wise yet so let me know what you guys are running, with pictures if possible,

Cheers and gone

Those badges look great. Do you just cut around them with a blade?
