They look so much nicer with new paint and should look pretty mad without balloons for tyres! Having said that I would concider selling them if the right offer was made (all 4 freshly resprayed)

Cheers

They have come up real nice dude!

You're pretty damn handy with paint.

It's not perfect and I know it won't be everyone's cuppa but I'm happy with them.

Now it could really do with some lows but once I've convinced my mum it's a good idea lol

Thanks

If you use real aluminium tape, you can polish that to a true mirror finish, or even spin-brush it so it looks like the spun stainless centre caps. I don't know how wide you can get it but it's available pretty darn wide for industrial air ducting. You'd have to fill and smooth the VW logos first though, as it isn't very malleable.

Yeah I think because it's quite cheap chrome vinyl it isn't perfect but I quite like it, some chrome can go up to £100 per square metre! That's the sort of stuff they use in yiannimize and places like that

Firstly I'm having real problems with trying to use Tapatalk for club polo. At first it worked perfectly but now I can't sign in and it says that the club polo page doesn't exist even though it clearly does, is anyone else having issues with it?

Anyway recently I did all 4 of my centre caps so the vw emblem is far more clear

74C81289-0F8F-4FCB-92CC-42F40A3EF2BA_zps

And due to my kenwood subwoofer not working I decided to buy a cheap local pioneer one to add the much needed bass

DCA95DB4-9494-411C-882D-5EB92ADB9A8B_zps

My plan was to put it under the passenger seat but my plans crumbled when I realised that it was far to tall and the seats are too low for it to fit!

Due to me being a massive fan of a stealth install I decided that the glove box was the next best option after I checked it fitted and how it sounded

0EE198E6-E855-4003-96ED-ED58B3E8A712_zps

I found a perfect earth and it could withstand the weight so I was set!

576CE3C4-017B-4BB3-A33D-28DB72ADF388_zps

I sanded off the paint

18CADAC6-D54B-4544-82A0-8D0A43FF6B72_zps

And attached the earth to the arm

67371A95-E2B2-4133-BB9D-168C11231205_zps

I re attached the glove box and plugged in the subwoofer

94061553-66B6-4D7F-8590-55FDD2C23482_zps

Then I tidied up all of the wires with many cable ties

And there's still room to the side for small things

It's an extremely stealthy and fairly easy install and it sounds seriously good, far better than I had expected!

Let me know what you think

cheers

It helps if you report the issue and not lost in a random post, it's lucky I just noticed your post that I picked up the error. I'm now looking into it.

Anyway your issue is a cache problem. Go to the app, click settings and hit clear cache.

Ah thank you so much that's worked, I'll report it next time if I have any problems. Much appreciated

So I decided that my engine bay was looking far too scabby for my liking so I've started cleaning it up a bit by painting the rocker cover.

E8469908-BC22-4CAF-9A11-46F44F2173E0_zpsuyojlbjw.jpg

I started by taking off the major rust using a wire wheel

B3E07E96-DF60-4C2E-AE3F-79DD0AF5F05F_zpsxx93fpxk.jpg

I was quite tempted to get all of the rust off but decided that it would be far too much effort

6FDEEC09-CF89-4251-B46D-7256C55E52DA_zpst0gcuoc7.jpg

Then I primered it and decided that I actually really liked the colour of it so I stuck with it instead of going full gloss black like I had originally planned

31A9DEE0-8A3C-448B-88F0-6FBB96A662EA_zps5umu0ke5.jpg

Then started doing gloss black accents

B7C1CC8C-F248-46F6-8820-9C3D030EFE75_zpsgxav6uhq.jpg

And finally cleaned up the bolts

B7C1CC8C-F248-46F6-8820-9C3D030EFE75_zpsgxav6uhq.jpg

3C47A902-2C07-40E9-893A-C640F417DDD4_zpss76z7slp.jpg

I'm really happy with it considering I know this is never going to be a full show car bay.

Next up will probably be the cam belt cover but I'm concerned that I'll balls up the timing if I'm not careful when taking it off! Is this an issue that I should worry about?

Thanks

Due to a lack of funds not a whole lot has happened on the old girl until the past couple of days. The clutch on my brothers lupo has been at the end of its life for a while now and now it's almost underivable and the price to have the clutch replaced doesn't seem worth it in the long run which is a real shame. But the upshot of that is a) if anyone is looking to buy a lupo for spares or (fairly simple with the right skills) repairs then give me a pm

E1ACAC9F-C310-4161-8780-BEE83A5CEA0A_zpsth77xylr.jpg

And b) my bro is going to use the polo as his daily until he buys a new car which means she's coming out of the garage!

So in the past couple of days I've basically been putting everything back together and other improvement jobs.

I had a patch of rust on the rear valence which I thought should have a quick fix before it goes back on the road so I used filler (I apologise if that annoys any of you pro welders out there) for the shortish term before it gets properly looked at

At least now it looks far better and should have a bit more structure

I also gave the bonnet 1 more coat of paint to try and get a better colour match and more gloss

And finally I put my semi broken banana trim back on with very heavy duty Velcro and the rest of my fake chrome trim

So she's ready for her return to regular driving (i hope) and she's looking the best that she's ever looked in my eyes which I'm so happy about. Hopefully lowering will happen somewhere down the road as well but for the mean time this is how it's looking

Cars looking great dude. She cleans up good.

Saw the post about the cambelt cover, removing it won't bugger the timing at all, if you remove the rear section then you would have to remove the belt, they aren't hard to time up again should you choose to do it. Although access to water pump bolts is a bit tight. That's about all that makes the easy job a bit difficult. If I were you I would just paint the outside cover that clips on
