Hi everyone, I'm thinking of buying one of these kits to lower my 6n2 60/40. Does anyone know if i am going to lose all comfort and will i have a camber on my wheels? Thanks!

Lowering any car will take away some comfort compared to the standard setup. How much depends on the kit and if it gives you any level of adjustment. But you will probably still have some comfort with a good kit like H&R compared to the cheaper TA kits which everyone knows have a harsh ride.

As for the camber you can adjust the front camber on the 6n2 with the two bolts that hold the strut to the hub carrier. But really you want to get an alignment check done after you have fitted the kit.

are you wanting scene camber ? thats done by fitting thinner bolts at the front and shims or washer on the rear

if you just want a standard geo on a lowered car then it should be fine with that kit , just get it ajusted at a garage after fitting

Thanks for the replies lads. I dont want a ridiculous camber. I'll go with the cup kit so and have a full wheel alignment carried out. Thanks guys.

Regards to using a smaller bolt for extra camber on the front, don't! Lol.

I'm sure VW would have used smaller bolts saving weight and cost if they didn't feel the need for them to be the size they are :)

So I've fitted the kit. It's quite hard, but considering how much it's lowered it's okay. I need to replace a top mount so I may as well do both, along with a track rod end.

I have a question for anyone willing to advise. Will the suspension soften any as it beds in?

I cant speak for the H&R kit but I am pretty sure my suspension has softened up a bit since I fitted it around 250 miles back. You should have done the top mounts when you fitted it lol I have found after both kits I fitted even with pretty new top mounts that a new set had to be fitted then had to take it apart again Every time I do it in the future new ones will be fitted

Shouldn't really soften unless the springs are shite quality.

Ride heights may scrag slightly as the springs bed in but rate shouldn't change enough to notice a difference in ride quality

Oh don't tell me! We did the job yesterday so there was no getting one! I'll change them again. Thanks for the info anyways. I'll see if they soften a bit.

Harris is probably right, it was more likely me just getting used to the difference. Either that or my springs are made of butter haha

Haha, well the fuckers cost enough so they better not go soft, haha. Maybe like u said wizard I'll just get used to them. Lowering + Irish roads is never really gonna be comfy!

In an ideal world you'd want to do about 100 miles on them before an alignment just to ensure everything's settled down properly and the springs have scragged

you that's a good point actually. I'll continue as is for now so, buy the two top mounts, and in 100 miles ish, swap out the old ones, followed by full alignment. Thanks for the advice lads. Its much appreciated.

Mine have been on about 6months. They are firm I stay in Aberdeen and the roads around there the car is firm but smooth went back home to Skye though and the roads there are 100 times worse with potholes etc and it was interesting car handled great but once roads get about rough it's not exactly designed for comfort.
