Hi i'm trying the take out the carpet on my e reg vw polo breadvan i only need to get the drivers side up the part i finding difficult is the plastic stop behhind the throttle peddle i'm not sure how it comes of and i don't want to break it any heip would be much appreciated ..regards mike

There's no clips or anything on it, just hold the plastic, wiggle and pull.

i tryed to pull it off it only seems to move about 5mm its like as if somthings stopping it or should i use a bit more force on it.

there is probably the circular clamps on the small threaded bolt things high up at the top edge of the carpet, you may have to remove the bottom tray below the steering wheel to see what i'm on about (looks like a black washer with a cats ring hole in the center) brute force and a screwdriver/pry bar should help free it or perhaps twist anti clockwise and pull if you have more patience?

If you mean the thing behind the accelerator pedal, it's clipped on and does just pull off. But to allow it to slide off easily without damage you have two methods that have worked for me - one is to wedge a thin butter knife down one wide side and use long nose pliers to pull the other wide side, because that will open the moulding from what it's clipped onto.

The second method is to gently clamp the small sides with mole grips so the middle opens up, and pull.

I found it easier to take out the front seats. It seems over the top but it gives more room to get the carpet out. The centre console has to come out as well.

absolutely spot on this method worked perfectly and the plastic stop came off easy with out breaking anything
