Hi Everyone,

I have been struggling with a transmission oil change on my polo mk5 1.2 (non TSI) 5 speed Gasoline. I can't find the drain bolt nor the filler bolt.

Just want to let you know that: I also own a VW Golf mk4 1.4 and I have successfully changed the transmission oil on it.

So the Polo has done 100 k miles and it is from September 2010.

Here are some photos of the transmission:

I think the cover with the two bolts is the drain bolt, but i'm not sure and that the reverse light switch is the filling point. I doubt that the plastic cover is used as a refilling point since that part needs new orings etc. whenever opened.

As it is so different when compared to other online tutorials for Jettas, Golfs, Boras and older Polos...

Thank you! I reached also that conclusion after installing elsawin. Now I'm left with a doubt: should the magnet be cleaned or not ? As I said before it has done 100k miles

I didn't found in elsawin the procedure to do this job just how to check the level

Are you going to drain the old oil? if you do, have a look at it to see if there are any metallic particles in it. Looking at the "Repairing gearbox housing" picture, it looks like the magnet isn't accessable without splitting the casing unless item #21 gives access ??

This cap thing with two bolts, is where I suspect the magnet is.

That cap is #21 in this

That is removed to gain access to the selector shaft bushing #19 so looking at the diagram it will not give access to the magnet as that's further rearward? So without splitting the casing you can't get at the magnet

Yep thats exactly it! So I leave it as it is!

I'm doing this next week! I let you guys know how it went!
