biggest battery available for my 6n2

Featured Replies

Battery needs replacing on my 6n2 1.4 16v I think I require the 075 battery but was wondering if I could fit a bigger one in the space? Does the 1.4 tdi battery fit I've noticed the only difference is the length 278mm on the tdi and 242 mm on the petrol height and width are the same at 175 mm.

you could measure the tray and see what you can match up online , chances are yes the diesel one will fit or maybe even bigger

do you really need it ? more expense and weight where you dont need it

Forgot to mention I have 2 amplifiers and a 180 amp alternator so thought why not upgrade whilst I'm at it price wise there is a £10-15 difference

yeah fair enough then

I'll have a measure up and see if it will fit

Maybe you could get a battery tray from a TDI if the one u have is too small?

I was going to advise against this, as it will take longer to charge, but with your 'bus' alternator, that won't be a problem :D

I've replaced the battery know with a tdi one went straight in no issues made a massive difference with voltage doesn't drop much at all with my sound system running

I run a type 75 which is a little bigger and was a lot cheaper when I looked so I bought a few. The normal petrol battery is 63.

I'm sure the tdi use a 65 any way. I agree they do seem to give a good bit more power.

That said a type 100 might just squeeze in, these are usually also cheaper and on sale a lot.

Can I ask, what did your alternator come out of? And did it bolt straight on?

Thanks

The one I put it in was a type 75 exide and for £55 with a 4 year guarantee it was a no brainer,

The alternator is off a passat b6 it pretty much is a straight bolt on all you need to do is grind the alternator bracket on the engine a bit to allow clearence and the bolt holes to line up, the most difficult part is getting the alternator past the slam panel lol I unbolted my slam panel just to pull it forward all in all took me around 1 hour 30 mins best part about it is you can use your existing belt

If your interested I have a bosch 180 amp which I'm selling bought it because I thought mines was faulty but it was just the battery.
