Hopefully nice and easy: hoping to fit some mini G60's to my '83 breadvan. Are 6" wheels too wide for the arches? Front or rear?

What is the offset on the wheels in question? Sure people have done 14 inch 6j et33's okay with 155/55r14.

I'm expecting the same spec wheels to arrive soon but in 13 inch and 155/55r13 so when the tires are on ill let you know if they fit. If they don't I'll just sell em anyway so I ain't fussed

If I absolutely nail it over a severe bump you do hear a tiny squeak from the rear, but I just don't tend to drive that way anyway, so it is all good [emoji108]

Planning on buying uprated standard height springs and shocks at some point. Just because a couple of the shocks need replacing and the springs aren't too far behind. That should sort the squeak out [emoji106]

I never wanted to ruin the originality of the car, so as far as I was concerned, if I couldn't get them to fit with a change of rubber, they were moving on.

FYI, offset is ET33.

I believe G60 steels are ET38, so with a 165/50/15 you might just get away with the rear.

You could even try a 165/45/15, they are a bit on the small side rolling radius wise but should save you touching the arches.

Front will be fine whatever you go for, especially at standard height.

EDIT: Just read the post properly, you're on about the 14" steels. 165/60/14 should be fine.

I think some were et43. Perhaps those fitted to the estate model. They'd be the ones you want, then the 6in rim should be fine with a sensible tyre (165/60-14). But then, i had a set of 14in steels off a Seat Inca, and though they looked identical to the MK2 Golf Driver/GTi steels they only had 5.5 rims, so maybe the 'baby-Gs' from the models with the additional carrying capacity had 5.5 baby-Gs..?

Whatever - i've ran the 6in et38's with 185/55s on the coupe and i think you'd have no chance of getting that combo under the 'van without wrecking the arches.
