So this noise has been going on for a while now but haven't thought anything of it as I had work done on the right side so assumed it was just the new parts being broken in (dumb thinking about it now) but as you've guessed, the noise is still here. I've checked for the obvious like parts rubbing or touching, tyers hitting the wheel arch but there's plenty of gap. I'm seriously at a loss at the moment as I can't think of what it can be and I don't want to take it to the garage and pay for something I could just simply be over looking. The noise is as the title say's, a very deep grinding like sound that only happens on full lock right or nearing full lock. Any suggestions would be a huge help guys, cheers.

Spring moving in the strut? Not seated well?

Could be the early warning of a failing CV joint, they normally give a "clunking" sound when they have fully failed

I've had a CV grind, with the odd bang. The gatier had long been split and it had dried up (probably washed with rain water). That was on a Metro in the '90s.

I was also thinking of the guard for the brake disc being pushed against the disc by the hose, but that would be more a high-pitched scraping sound.

After a drive **CAREFULLY** feel (near - dont touch directly) for heat in the brake, bearing and CV joint.

Dont burn yourself, assume all the parts are too hot to touch.

As said above, if the CV boot has split - start there but if the CV has been 'grinding' for a long time then the bearing may also be dead.

What was the work that you had done on that side?

If the work could be related to the noise, maybe you are due for some free remedial work - it's worth asking.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I'll have to wait for tomorrow to have a little potch now as the winter nights have taken full affect and I don't fancy my chances of finding anything working in the dark haha, I'll keep you updated as soon as I know anything.
