Has anyone converted an engine from a coil distributor set up to a crank trigger, coil on plug system and is there a later model engine ignition system that could be used provided there is an ECU to handle it? I saw something on Ebay which looked like it would fit but did not take a note of which engine it came from. My ECU is tuned for fuel but can be used for ignition as well so I am looking at the alternatives that I have for the future.

There are several who have converted to a distributor less setup, but they all (as far as I know) have used a coil pack not individual pencil coils

A coil pack set up would be fine. Hopefully someone who has done a distributorless ignition will reply. A coil on plug is just one option I was looking at because my ECU can support it. Thanks for the reply.

Lance runs his G40 on a coilpack setup. Not sure on the details just remember seeing the pictures of the engine bay with coil pack where the dizzy should be.

Harris racing, MaxGt & erixtar1992 have done the non distributor mod :)

A few places do crank trigger wheels for Ford EDIS or nodiz systems. Which ECU are you using?

I am using Megasquirt 3/3x which configures to about everything. Thanks a lot for all the input. I shall try and contact all those members mentioned.

Thought Max was using Amethyst whch is Hall sender triggered from the dizzy not crank?
