Some people's opinion of the police. For example I am a "member" on a pretty large car group based around Birmingham because I went to a meet once, every single day is someone being pulled for somet

Since this is in the club house I'm going to try and keep my rants off the topic of cars. Lots of things grind my gears though, I'm quite a grumpy old man at the ripe old age of 28. Facebook - Face

  • Driving with front fogs on when it's not foggy!! I live and work a bit out in the sticks so there are very very few street lights so are blinding!

I think it's becoming a rare thing on the road now...I wasn't driving ten years ago so I can't talk from my own driving experience but being a passenger avidly watching my dad etc I seem to remember the majority of road users driving the correct speed limit and not being arses most the time

I've been doing about 30,000 miles a year since 2007. The standard of driving in this country has got a lot worse in the last few years, London's always been pretty dire (the lad who used to work with me remarked that he could see me physically go into "London mode" as I approached Staples Corner - van doors locked and my eyes started going everywhere), but the rest are catching up well.

just the me me me attitude these days , F everyone else as long as #1 is ok

I would like to think I'm a calm driver and I stick to the limits...well about 5mph over.

But I won't lie I can turn into just as much a knob as anyone else when in London at daytime. You almost have to be though, you have to push out everywhere and cut people up on the one way systems because following the normal rules of the road simply won't allow you to change lane or to even exit a roundabout in the correct lane your in as everyone and I mean everyone is cutting you up, not letting you pull out and up your arse. It's just full of bullies in central areas such as Wimbledon, Clapham, Waterloo.

People there drive like that on a daily basis and I'm surprised they can cope with the stress everyday. On day shift I prefer to just cram into a train like a sardine with a load of people who are stinking.

I might actually get a go pro camera and drive into work at daytime one day...I'll show you all how bad it actually is lol

People think they're bulletproof in modern cars too,

It's got whatever crash rating

I'm surround by airbags

It's got Various stability control systems

I can do 100mph and if I hit a puddle it's fine the car will sort it

Hate to tell you sunshine you can't defy physics, cars are good, but when the operator doesn't understand the basic concept of how shit works you're going to be having a bad time haha

pictures in for sales ad's

what makes people think some jaunty special effect helps a buyer judge the condition of a car ? saw one last week covered in soap suds while being washed wtf

delicate internal engine parts ...dont sling em on the concrete floor for photos

Yeah these people that buy great big 'safe' cars because they will be fine in an accident. I'd personally try and avoid having an accident if I can, going by dash cam videos these days peoples reactions are so slow and they are too busy on the horn they are more than willing to have an accident. Sure they will be fine in their big Q7 or XC90 or whatever, but what about the poor bastard in the mk2 Polo that you hit?

Steveo, for sale ads in general these days are getting worse. The last time I wrote out a for sale ad for a car I spent a whole hour making sure I included all the good and bad points, all the specific details buyers want etc. etc. But half the ads I see these days are just:

"1990 Polo for sale, on 14" alloys running bike carbs, call for more info £1000" proceeded with no pictures!!

I personally wouldn't even entertain that advert, just laziness on the sellers part and if they are too lazy to write out a proper advert then how lazy have they been with the car?

People make it so difficult to buy shit these days!

Example:

Lad at work after wheels for his t5 van, got in contact with a couple of people on eBay selling some, just general info like are they genuine and tread depths etc, but they can't be bothered to send a pic to prove genuine or say "good tread"

Like that's not the fucking question, do you want the £1000 odd you're selling them for or not!

Estate agents!!

As I've said before I rent because I can't afford to buy a house. Since the collapse of the oil price, the rental market up here has dropped. So after a look about I've found I can rent a house with a garage for roughly the same money as my current house and lock-up rent combined. I've found the perfect place, nice 3 bed bungalow with a driveway easily big enough for 3-4 cars and a double garage. 10 minutes from where I am now and the extra costs per month are very little.

But it is through an estate agent! I've tried phoning them several times and they never pick up, emails also take them an age to reply to. Also because you're dealing with a third party it's much harder to negotiate.

So with the house above I asked if they would accept pets as I have a cat, I finally get a reply right at the end of the day on Friday quite abruptly saying no. So I reply asking if they have actually asked the landlord. I got a reply this morning saying they didn't because they have asked for other pet requests on previous occasions! So annoying, I prefer dealing with people face to face and not go through a third party!

Just went up the shops in the bluemotion. On my way back home in my road was a man riding his bike in the middle of the road and he had his dog lead tied on his handle bars walking alongside. This road is about 3/4 of a mile long and my speedometer didnt touch 5mph. He had no intention of moving to the side or going to the pavement to let me past even after I gave him a friendly toot to let him know I was there. He looked back and continued to dawdle from left to right!

I may have gone a bit overboard shouting out the window to move out the f*****g way and called him a w****r. He shouted bikes are permitted to ride on the road....yes but not whilst walking a massive dog and dawdling all over the place right in the middle of it!

Occasionally get the problem with horses in that street as there are stables at the bottom. As frustrating as it is though I have no reason to be angry in those circumstances, not only that they are normally very polite and pull to the side to wave you past. This guy was just piss ignorant. When I walk my dog its on the pavement, I ride my bicycle on the side of the road. I do not do both at the same time in the middle of the road stopping people from getting about just for the sake of it!

People that lower their car and don't adjust their driving style to suit, thinking it is cool to bottom your car out everywhere and rip exhausts and things off. It isn't cool, it just makes you look stupid I think. I've been driving lowered cars for years, never pulled an exhaust off and manage to drive for miles and miles without bottoming out. Plan ahead, avoid potholes, take different routes to avoid speed bumps. If you can't/won't do that then you shouldn't have lowered your car!

Twats with shit slow standard/standardish cars with huge exhausts on.

Sorry, but you're proving nothing except what a knob you are.

I've said it before, but it's the automotive equivalent of shoving a pair of socks down your pants.

What annoys me even more than that is those who fit an 'induction kit' to their car and suddenly it is the fastest 1.2 Corsa on the planet.

AKA a lampshade in a warm oily place. Yeah, that's going to add loads. :clapping:

I got stuck behind an Ibiza last week, same age as mine but it sounded like a stock car. I say got stuck behind, I think he "beat" me in his mind. I suspect it was a 1.2.

just the mentality of these scrotes really , they can always find a couple of hundred quid for bolt on shite , but never on decent tyres or get the tracking done, maintain the engine etc

and no ffffffs bolting on g40 parts to your 1ltr wont make it faster

It's the way they speak about cars too, without a doubt if some tool with a Corsa is looking at my GT the first question out their mouth is "how fast does it go?" That is a question that really does my head in! It's not about how fast it goes, it is how it gets there and if you can carry that speed into a corner.

Sadly though its vw owners that are the worst

What grinds my gears. People who insist on sitting at a red light for aaaages with their foot on the brake instead of using the hand break and blinding me!! Seriously?! We're going to be here a while! Use the effing hand break!!

Drove the bluemotion for a year now. And to mark the anniversary some guy pulled straight out of a space where cars are parked on both sides and there wasn't enough room for us both.

I hit my brakes to stop. He accelerated. Left mirror hit off a parked car and right mirror hit by him.

No damage on parked car at all but left a note and my number. The dickhead who thinks his saab is a classic mini just drove off. Didn't get a number plate either. Left mirror casing cracked. Right mirror casing scratched.

2 years without issues on my cars. Should have expected something. London being London!

That's infuriating mate, had that a few times...

A word to describe actual emergency stops in a MK2 Polo? Worrying.

So yeah, people with no spacial awareness grind my gears. :x

Haha- yeah, if you're driving a mk2, always set your hazard perception skills to "motorbike"!

They can actually pull up really well, but there's always a bit of theatre involved.

Sort of wish I was in the mk2 now!. A. I have a spare mirror! B. So much slimmer I would have been fine on both sides.

Wish I didn't try to move out his way now and steered an inch or two more in his side and he may have stopped. Either that or he would have wrote off my car lol

I've got to admit, when I drive the modern tat (Ibiza), if I come across someone like that, I just go with "Drive into it if you want, I'll be in a hire car tomorrow, your insurance will be paying"

When I had the corsa, I encountered someone who thought if you drive a brand new Insignia, you're entitled to expect the peasants to dart out of your way. Then he encountered me. The corsa mirror gained a cracked casing that I didn't give a shit about, his electric mirror with an indicator in just exploded

Obviously, I played it by the book and stopped and exchanged details (like fuck I did, I just disappeared into the estate).
