Lowering kit options for 2f Polo

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.

I'm currently running g-max shock absorbers and -40mm Ventura springs on my Polo 2f. The front shocks are past it and are leaking oil, also my springs are starting to want replacing as well.

I was happy with the g-max shocks, as they were firm, but not too harsh, but they are now discontinued. My springs have been discontinued as well.

I heard the H&R cup kit is pretty good, but as I'm running 13" BBS, will I have a problem with speedhumps? I tend to scrape the exhaust on my current springs, however I think the car sits much lower than -40mm!

Any other shock sprig combinations I should try?

thanks in advance

What tyre size are you running? -40mm on standard 13" wheels with the correct tyre size isn't that low at all really.

I've heard good reviews about the H&R and Bilstein kits but never fitted any myself.

They're 13" BBS from a g40, so I'm running 175/60 tyres. I can measure the height of my wheelarch off the ground if it gives you an idea of how low the car currently is?

Yeah that's standard tyre size. I have no idea what standard height is. I just know that -40mm never seems like much. Even -60mm looks a little high to me.

Sorry for jumping in but I have a 60-50 kit not fitted yet on my mk2f breadvan . I will be using a set of standard 13" steels wheels as for tyre size what would be my options ? I would like a little wider than the 145s I have on now ..

The standard 4.5j steels? 155/70/13 should fit fine. Upgrade to GT steels and you'll get 165/65 or 175/60 on :)

The wheel and tire wizard done it again [emoji38]

Yes he the man lol.. Yes standard 4.5j wheels but if I can get hold of some gt wheels that may be a lot better, are the gt wheels 5.5j ?

Yeah they are 5.5j iirc.

Heres how the car sits currently, As you can see it's pretty low! I think the springs have sagged a bit over the years. The top of the front wheelarch sits 53cm off the ground, the back 54cm .

Looks like a 60mm drop to me maybe a bit more. So a -40mm or -60mm will probably raise it up a tiny bit.
