Hi,

I've made a new Dial setup for my Mk2 Polo using Porsche 944 parts. I understand that the alternator won't work without the thin blue wire connected (to the original warning light) but obviously this is no longer possible.

How would I solve this?

I'm guessing this would work the same with an LED?

Should still function the same ie. light on with ignition, turns off when charging (0v at the bulb) and back on agaibn if the alternator stops charging

If you use an LED you'll need a current limiting resistor, best with an old school bulb :)

It will function the same as the standard speedo unit Alternator warning light :)

I guessing that an LED won't draw enough current to kick in the voltage regulator.

Like i said in your 1-3 column, my blue wire snapped about 20,000 miles ago. Don't need it.

Nice dials, btw. Inspiring stuff, might have to nick the idea.

Any pictures of the dials? Or are they on a build thread somewhere?
