'86 Polo GT coupe (Motorcode GK)

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

This is a project thread about my 1986 Polo coupe GT. Bought it a couple years ago and used it as a daily driver for about a year.

The engine gave out and now I'm in progress of restoring it. I will probably have a lot of questions during this build, and I hope maybe some of you can help me :)

I have taken the engine out, and found a lot of rust holes. I will soon be removing the interior for cleaning and welding in the battery hole.

I will probably let some shop handle the engine problems, but do anyone suggest any upgrades/improvements that can be done?

I would also love to have a 5 speed gearbox. Is there any easy replacements for my current 4 speed?

Also its gonna get a full paint job. I've been thinking of a darker grey color. Any tips?

Also sorry for the rubbish english, I'm from Norway.

your english is fine :)

a 5 speed gearbox from almost any mk2 or 2f polo will work , also fitted to mk2 golf 1300 , you need the gearbox and mounts and maybe a anti roll bar if your car is early
