Hello I was wondering if anybody could help me I got some 60-40 springs to fit to my fox now the backs are easy I know but never done the fronts would anybody be able to advise me on how to do this please?

Just be aware, if you are asking this kind of question it may suggest that you are not competent enough, so it may be worth getting a hand off someone qualified or with experience, or paying a garage to do it for you.

The fronts are easy once you know how. You'll need spring compressors and a castle nut tool.

If you're just doing the springs you're likely to be doing the job again in a few months time once the standard shocks have enough :(

I don't know where this lowering springs will ruin standard dampers theory has come from tbh. Unless it can literally allow the piston rod to bottom out internally, but I'd imagine the strut housing would bottom out on the top mount first?

When I first bought my GT I put 60mm lowering spring on the front and by the time it got round to it's next MOT both front shocks were burst. They were the originals though.

Maybe if they have been replaced at some point they will be fine.

The harsh voice of experience. You're forgetting you're not dealing with new, unstressed parts, but most likely stuff that's gone way past its design life.

Maybe the new springs create a lot more side load which unequally loads the seal pack of the damper causing it to leak

I know it would be good practice to replace shocks too but what are the odds do you think on them actually breaking? I mean if they more tb likely will I will change shocks too

Out of good practice you should while you have it all stripped down etc .
