Master Cylinder Check List

Featured Replies

Master cylinder gave up on the way to work today .... POS!

Got myself a list of things i believe i need, if anyone could see anything i've missed please let me know. Much appreciated.

New cylinder

5L dot 4 fluid

6-7mm spanner to bleed all the brakes after

Baster to suck up the fluid out the reservoir

and what ever socket to to unbolt from the bulkhead (have a range from 10mm to 32mm)

The car in question polo estate - so mk3 golf/ibiza platform

Something i've never done before, tend not to touch brakes, but i'm very certain i'm able to do it. Aslong as i have everything i need to get me back to work tomorrow!!

Cheers

If you have ABS ? the manual says you need VCDS/Vagcom to put the ABS unit into "bleed" mode :( Other than that, if you don't have a willing assistant to pump the pedal, I'd get one of the "easy bleeder" kits

spray some oil on your nipples before hand

Is that to stop your shirt from chaffing as you keep pressing the brake pedal, bit like "Joggers nipple" Haha!
