So, MOT time this month and although im not the nervous type the car was dropped at the garage yesterday and i sat at home like an expectant father waiting for the delivery of good or bad news.

It failed but only on a damaged CV gaiter and an advisory of an exhaust leak, which i knew about the exhaust, i had already bought a new one as i could hear the tut tut noise.

Any way, today - hooray a pass and no advisories. Not bad for a 21 yr old car.

Im picking up front and rear 16V bumpers at the weekend for it too. Im glad i didn't sell it. Its a brilliant car with 44K on the clock.

Glad you never sold it,Finding a 6n in clean condition let alone low millage is hard to find and the 16V front and rear bumpers would transform it straight away, Gives it a beefier look .

Picked up the 16v front and rear bumpers tonight. Apart from a few marks they are good condition and soon have them in good condition, sprayed white and on the car.

That is one clean polo wish my white valver was that clean gonna have to get rid of the little rust marks 

It's will look so good if you lower it but not to low but your choice 

I'm gonna keep checking back on this

Prepared the front bumper ready for paint, about 6hrs in total

Started to primer it, plastic primer first and then had a complete brain fart and realised i didn't have enough white primer so had to do half and half white and grey, but this is the first stage of preparation to check for finer sanding before 2 coats of white primer before getting it sprayed by a local garage i use.

And the rear is rubbed down and ready for primer, as soon as i buy it that is [emoji848][emoji23]

Carnt wait to see them on 

Just trying to find some spare time to get my front bumper sprayed 

Front bumper is in white primer and wet sanded using 250 wet and dry, ready for paint now

The rear bumper is on its way to final preparation for painting too

Just needs final wet sanding and full white primer coating and final wet sand

Are you just painting it yourself with rattle cans? Would like to see a close up finish if you are if you don't mind want to see how good you can get a finish with rattle cans 

Both bumpers now in white primer and wet sanded using 240 wet & dry. Ready for paint and just debating the garage spraying it or madnemo has inspired me to think about Halfords rattle cans as the finish he got looks good. Anyway here is the bumpers:

And now for something completely different, how about this for a gearstick lever ?? Maybe keep it for my MK2f loon when im doing that up after my daughter's breadvan

As the weather is so good and i had a tin of Candy White in the boot, i gave the rear bumper it's first guide coat of top coat colour. Im hoping to give both bumpers 3 coats of top colour then 2 coats of clear.

The black mark is a fly that just landed on the bumper as i took the picture. Not bad for a guide coat.

looking good. Cant wait to see them painted and fitted, Halfords paint are good. I bought the clear coat from local paint shop its 2k clear. Are you getting fog lights for your bumper too?

Started this morning, front and rear bumpers both have had 2 coats of paint and are now waiting for the 3rd coat, which will be going on in 10 - 15 mins. I'm then giving 3 coats of clear.

Its had 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear lacquer. Im going to leave it to cure for a few weeks and then wet sand and polish.

Still need the centre grill insert for the front bumper and also the lower trim lip.

Got the bumpers out of the shed this morning to lay in the sun and pleasantly surprised at how they both look. Apart from a couple of midge flies and a spider who had decided to have their final resting place in the lacquer of the bumpers, they should only need light wet sanding and then a good polishing with my DA.

Both front and rear bumpers wet sanded, 1500 grade and 2000 grade to finish.

Waiting for new waffle pads to arrive from Clean Your Car and then the polishing begins and then fit them to the car.

Good work mate

I have been like a child waiting for Christmas Day in the epic wait for my bumpers to harden enough to use my DA and to make the wait feel like a kick in the gentlemen spuds the hex logic pads i ordered turned up on Saturday morning.

Well the wait got the better of me and i got the front bumper out and hand polished and waxed it, just to see what it looks like. Whilst doing this i saw a few areas that need further wet and dry sanding prior to machine polishing but i have to admit not many areas but I'm not going for a concourse finish, its my first attempt and I'm very happy with the finish.

I broke out the DA this morning and using Meguire's 105 compound and the 205 polish. Both bumpers came out great so i put the rear bumper on my polo.

Took me ages, due to me being a bit of a [emoji373]and tried to fit the bumper over the bottom half of the original bumper until the penny dropped that it had to come off too. After that the bumper went straight on. I have an issue with the mud flaps but im still unsure if I will put them back on. Anyway here is the good bits:
