  • Well I bought a toffee wheel and it made removing the glue / sticky pads so easy. I'm very happy with how it turned out

  • Looks great, I never see a white 6n in good condition like this. Paint looks good on the photos

  • Paint is excellent and wheel arches and inner arches are mine. Its just passed 42K on clocks

The rear looks slightly higher as my drive slopes

The back end looks sweet, Bet you cant wait to get front bumper on now.

I have to wait for the bumper lower centre grill to arrive.

I measured the bumper lower trim on the original front bumper and it seem to be the right size for the 16V front bumper - unless someone knows different.

I have put the front 16V bumper on my polo now but just need to source the trim around the bottom as the one that cane with the bumpers was snapped in half and don't want to put that on it.

There is very very very little rust on this car, wax oil next for it

Brand new dizzy fitted and found the coil was arching too so brand new coil too. Its running and purrs like a kitten. Going back to get the timing set with timing light but the mechanic is an old boy and set it by sound, quality mechanic.

Parts were fitted and ran good then the car broke down on the M62, AA man rescued the car and when checked the parts - THE NEW PARTS dizzy cap & rotor arm have failed. Rang Euro Car Parts and new parts will be available in the morning so another day off work [emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35][emoji35]

Euro Car Parts saying i should take it up with the garage first before them, flippin cheek its their parts that have failed

why i try not to buy from them....pay a bit more and shop around for branded parts only

  • Author

I normally don't buy from them but i was stuck and they are close and thought i would replace the part in the Summer when the engine gets a major Service.

HELP

Is there anyone on this site who can help me. My car has broken down again, 3rd time since Saturday. It has had a new distributor and coil yesterday morning, and it broke down on the motorway. AA said it was the rotor arm or dizzy cap at fault. Had those replaced by Euro Car Parts and went about 3 mile and broke down again. Suspected rotor arm again as it was by a garage and the mechanic was closing but said it now has a misfire and the rotor arm looks like its cracked. Its on my drive now but need a competent mechanic to look at it now.

Im in Widnes

cant you look at the arm yourself ?  post some pics?

  • Author

He said he had to jam a bit of latex glove in to take up the slack as it had cracked. He said he can here it has a misfire, which i could hear but wasnt there last week. Im not touching it tonight.

I really, really need help with my car now. The garage that was suppose to pick the polo up on Friday didn't bother and haven't returned and calls when I asked them to let me know if they were picking it up to fix it so im desperate for help.

Is there anyone on the forum who can either help or recommend a decent mechanic / garage around or near to the Widnes area ???

cant you fit a rotor arm yourself?  worth a try before paying someone to fit more rubbish parts

  • Author

I have fitted the rotor arm, here is the story,

It has had a new coil, new full distributor, two new dizzy caps and two rotor arms. I have also fitted new plugs and was thinking of new plug leads but the ones that are one it are only 6 months old.

The issue is it still has a slight misfire so new leads may cure that but as the car has had the AA to it twice in 2wks im really nervous with reliability and im currently off work sick so i have 2wks to sort it

does the arm fit tight on the dizzy shaft ?  should be a snug fit

off it up inside the cap , does it look a good match to the cap?     if theyre no name brand then order something with a reputable brand name on it , alot of stuff is dud out of the box these days

  • Author

The rotor arm is Bosch, im not convinced the dizzy isnt the issue but Euro Car Parts said they will give me a refund on it. I may just go elsewhere and buy a new one and see. I dont buy cheap parts i just got what i thought would be ok
