I remember seeing a crank sensor, on Ebay, that looked very similar to the seal housing that bolts to the block of Mk2s on the front of the engine. Is there a later model housing that has both a crank sensor and seal in it?

Not that I've been able to find.

I'm currently adapting a newer (non adv/ret) dist to give enough resolution for my project. No good for 'off the shelf' MS software but fine for a DIY bodge on a non-performance project.

I've seen brackets used to hold a sensor near the crank pulley but not in such a way that it would always be in the same position every time it was fitted. I don’t want to have to ‘strobe up’ every time I move/change the pulley or sensor.

I'd be very interested if you do find an economic and reliable method of mounting a tooth wheel and sensor reliably.

I presume that you are using some electronics to give you the advance and retard that is needed. It frustrates me like hell that I did not at least put the toothed wheel set up off Ebay on the watch list that I saw because it looked like a bolt on. Lots of toothed wheels are available but would need adapting to the back of the alternator pulley. I know what you are saying about a bracket for the sensor. If it's made accurately enough it ought to go back close to where it came off especially if dowels could be used. I will look more closely at my spare block when I get a chance.
