Hey polo peoples. I hope you're all very well indeed. I'm looking for some guidance with the wiring in my '83 bready. I have a haynes with wiring diagram but i'm wondering about the actual physical placement and proximity of some of the wiring. The issue i have is that i picked up a centre console a few weeks ago. When i fitted it, i had to move a junction box, (i think that's what it's called,) that connects the wires from my aftermarket head unit to the speakers and power supply. Console fitted fine but since then, i've had no power to the stereo, no courtesy light and no washer jets. Do these wires run in close proximity to each other?

If you have still got the original (bullet type fuses), I would recommend that you start by removing them, one-at-a-time, cleaning up the tips of the bullets and the clips that they sit in - the slightest bit of corrosion (although they may not LOOK corroded) causes high resistance and prevents things from working.

Out of curiosity, how difficult is it to convert from the old style fuses to a blade style fuse box? And is it actually worth doin?

A bit like beauty, difficulty is in the eye of the beholder - it really depends on your ability in the case of difficulty.

A better answer might be for you to download the catalogue from www.vehicleproducts.co.uk - In there you will find a suitable fusebox (avoiding the 'continental' type - that is what you already have). You will find everything in there that you need to do the job.
