Couple of Coupe'S

Featured Replies

Time to introduce myself a bit better on the forums, I've posted a few times and bought a few bits from people on here. My first car at 16-17 was a 1987 Mars Red (orange) 1.3 Polo Ranger with 230,000 miles on the clock. This time round I wanted something in better condition so I waited for a really good Mk2, and you know when you wait ages for a bus and then two come along? Well these are considerably smaller than buses but much more fun:

This one is as tight as a drum, I really enjoyed driving it last summer, no major mods planned here just keep her nice and practical, the MH engine is great around town and pretty economical. Shame the grey interior is a bit drab compared to the earlier years, but the Helios paint is beautiful in sunlight with shades of purple even.

This one was local and too unique to miss out on I thought. It is very tidy and has the coolest interior with OEM electric mirrored sunroof & windows, it's genuinely imacculate. Has uprated/lowered suspension from GTI Engineering Silverstone, fitted back in the day with the body kit. It's undergoing the obligatory fuel tank replacement right now, but I can't wait to get it back on the road, it gets a lot of attention and has shades of Fiesta XR2 from certain angles.

Tucked up in the shed:

Recent work on the Helios was installing a NOS front quarterlight window (old seal leaked), fixed a dead LCD clock, fitted an era-correct Blaupunkt head unit and replacing driver's seat backrest/bolster was something I shared in another thread. Still chuffed with the end result:

I am also trying to track down a Weber 32 DMTR setup as one of my Pierburg 2E3's is playing up a little and I hear the Weber is easier to work on. Please let me know if you have one you would consider parting with!

Hoping to take at least one of these to at least one show this year.

All the best

Both look fantastic, who'd have thought you were hiding two of the best mk2's on here!

Never seen the gti engineering designer edition kind before. Looks cool and unique, I love everything about it!

Unfortunately I can't help with a weber

Lovely pair of cars. I had a chat to the silver ones original owner a few years ago when she was selling it at tattoo.

love both esp the helious blue, had a mk2 golf none gti in that color 10 years ago and never ever seen or knew gti engineering did a polo, has similer styling to the golf mk1's and mk2's they did. Both are stunning examples you have.

Did you get that GTI engineering one from a dud on here? Looks like one that a guy (i think was called) Adam had. Nice piece
