Electric window

Featured Replies

Hi,

I don't have a Polo, I have an Ibiza but may I have your opinion regarding this weird problem?

1 - Window works ok with engine off.

2 - Window opens ok with engine on, and closing it closes only 0,5 cm each time even with the button pressed.

Already tried to reprogram the windows but it is always the same...

Thank you.

  • I'm only assuming it's some sort of safety measure ? as with the engine not running the windows work OK, it's only when the engine is running you have this happening, so it must be something in the CA

The power supply to the windows is only a battery live supply, switching the ignition on then powers up the CANbus system fully, so I can only assume this is some sort of safety function or something that might be reprogrammable using VCDS/Vagcom ??

I didn't do anything with vcds and it stopped working, with ignition on it works ok but if I turn the key all the way and start the engine it has the problem I mentioned.

What kind of security? I will check that thing it has in the doors not to be open on the inside.

No results

Nothing to do with security, It might be a safety measure

If it is a safety measure how would I disable it?

I'm only assuming it's some sort of safety measure ? as with the engine not running the windows work OK, it's only when the engine is running you have this happening, so it must be something in the CANbus signal to the window units that's causing it to operate as it does, You'll need a full copy of VCDS and go to the "Comfort Control" module and see if there is any options you can change

Only the window on the video has this problem so i guess it's not a configuration, and it worked well before.

I guess a little rain water got into the drivers door switch two days before (just some drops).

Could be the switch? Even knowing it has this behaviour with both switches?

I can't see it being the switch/s as it works OK with the engine OFF, it must be something to do with the CANbus signal with the engine running ??

If it is can bus signal why would it only affect one window?

Maybe it is something to do with voltage or BCM?

It could be the window motor control unit that's not reading the can signals correctly, I know the similar units in the Octavia often give strange operations of the windows ??

I would try removing the door card and unplugging the unit and check for any corrosion on the pin/sockets Just reseating the connector has been known to cure other faults ??
