That little price sticker still on the boot then or whatever it was [emoji14] noticed it about a week ago and kept forgetting to remove it

I think I take too many photos.

Made a pile tonight.

Glass out, doors, bumpers, bonnet, boot, a wing, and the headlining removed.

Still a heap of little bits to take off, then will start cleaning up all he scabby bits.

Not messing about...engine in next week?

These daily updates aren't going to last long...

More stripping done today, other wing off, dash out, front and rear suspension. Rear beam and fuel tank left to go. Then all the other little bits and pieces.

Also threw a couple of wheels on the back while it has no suspension. The Mahles are clearly not going to work. But with a little arch work the 6N 6 spokes with 175/60/13 should be good.

Not much done today, but might aswell update.

Took the rear beam off and fuel tank is out.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll get the fuel lines and brake lines removed. Still not very exciting...

When are you cutting it up and weighing it in?

Haha that's not going to happen, the GT shell will donate polo shaped pieces of metal to sort this out.

That's the shell stripped down now, so had a dig about for some more rust, safe to say I found some!

Seems to be only on the inner panel which I guess isn't too bad.

The fuel tank breather pipe.

And the filler hole.

The other side is manly the arch lip that is rusted away.

The garage rafters are looking a little more red now.

Next plan is to get it on the wheeled pallet and take it outside for a degrease and pressure wash.

Keep up the good work .

Had a bit of day light this evening, so rolled it outside then back on the axle stands.

Covered it in concentrated "pressure washer fluid" then pressure washed it.

Think I'll need to get some proper degreaser and have another go, but it's a bit cleaner anyway.

At some point in its life it's had black underseal on it, going to have to remove it to see if there's anything hiding underneith.

A dustpan full of weight savings from the garage floor...

Few more bits done this weekend.

Started cleaning parts up, and as usual the satin black came out.

Decided to relocate the washer bottle, so carefully removed the mount and riveted it onto the panel where the old seatbelt mount was, painted the bottle red for some reason.

The Mahles made way for some breadvan friendly wheels. No axle fitted but just to see what they looked like. 6j ats classics will be everyday wheels and hocks wil get some sticky tyres.

Then out came the grinder, many hours carefully ticking the spot welds and the scuttle tray is gone. Also started removing all the seam sealer.

Still got to clean up the battery tray and crack on with a whole lot of wire wheeling!

Some fast progress...

Wish I had this kind of motivation/space.

Nothing too exciting recently, spending a while removing the seam sealer. 

And the rest of the sound deadening.

More stuff painted black. Levels might be tricky but I can just open the cap...

Painted one of each wheel, yes that's them finished.

Wheel well out.

Started rubbing all the gloss off the panels and primering all the bare bits.

Little more weight saving.

Same with the doors.

New door handle and latch.

Made from random bike parts.

A lot more of the same to do.

Bit of a lack of updates recently with work taking over my life, but managed to get the odd hour on it when I can.

 

I can only handle so much wire wheeling at once...

Both front arches cleaned up and primered.

Needed a bit more height so 6 pallets later.

Same again on the front panel, couple repairs needed on the bumper mounts.

Also got the Hock count into double figures :)

Then decided the "tool tray" and bonnet catch was getting in the way, so made it removable. Inner light brackets also had to go for extra space. Since it won't see the road, I don't need headlights so will be turned into vents.

Will need to get some proper nuts and bolts for it, and a bit more cleaning up to do before the rest of the front end gets primered.

Yeh, the white one was uncomfortable enough on the road so this one will be unbearable haha plus I'll just end up getting in trouble...

Some more cleaning and sanding later, the front foot or so is in primer.

Did find some more rust by the drivers side headlight mount.

And with 6 of 10 bolts in, it's pretty solid, may put some extra bracing in later.

Plan is to work from front to back, I will need to remove some of the primer/paint again for seam welding, but I like to have a clean base to start with.

looking quality mate, haven't realised how far you got as i haven't been on here lately but it seems to be moving at a steady pace!, i like the idea of track car only. Then you can pretty much do whatever you want to it!
