Since its been a while, I'll add some more photos.

 

Got some more primer on he front end.

The white one came home.

Along with a friend, for spares.

After a long wait this turned up. A bit more practice needed before it gets turned on the shell, also working on plans for a rotisserie.

But since I've still had enough of scraping off seam sealer, thought I'd paint up a couple of spare panels, they may get used still not sure yet.

It also got de-wiperd

The bonnet, always wanted to try this, so a couple hours of flap wheeling and salt and vinegar later...

It got damaged when it was blown off so wasn't too fussed if it came out terrible. Wiped off the dust and lacquered it, not too obvious now.

Thats it for now, seems like this isn't going to be a pretty car, but I hate worrying about paintwork!

That lacquered rust effect looks brilliant!! 

Can make a cheap spit, with 2 engine stands, and weld a frame up with box sectioned steel. Have a look at yoofs spit. 

Did think about that, they would need lengthened and set level. Won't need a winch or anything, it's already sitting at a decent height in the pallets. 

 

The rusty bonnet is now hanging up on the garage wall, it's fairly heavy!

Started off today by removing the steering column bracket and the huge pointless plug holder under the dash, lost my spot weld drill bit so used a 3/8" bit, messed up a few times and went all the way through...

I was left with quite a few holes, so this was officially the first time the welder touched the polo! Tried at first with a piece of copper held onto the back with magnets, that kept falling off so done without after a few. Needed quite a bit of grinding back, doesn't need to be pretty though.

Should probably get back to scraping off seam sealer, there's also a lot of rust to cut out...

It's been a while since I've worked on the polo, so spent the last few days in the garage.

 

Started with a delivery 

Then a couple of holes in the front panel, didn't think the front bumper mounts were strong enough, so a couple bolts in the chassis leg.

On the back there wasn't the option to go into the chassis leg, would have been too much cutting.

Since the mounts were at different heights, the centre points were different.

To make it spin, I hacked up a rear beam and used the drum brake without the insides.

And drilled some holes to mount the drum

Then put it all together, with some extra supports on the legs.

Still need to figure out how to lock it in position, but it spins :)

Better go tidy the garage now...

Had a bit more time on this.

 

Locked it sideways.

Start of stripping the underside.

Took a break from wire wheeling and washed the short polo.

And a belt/pulley/water pump change.

Welding is improving slowly.

And a bit more stripping the other 2.

Back to the wire wheel.

The better jacking point.

And some primer.

 

A lot more of the same forecast...
