This is my 92 polo fox.

I bought this for £50 well £47.50 as I found £2.50 under drivers seat haha.

But this was sitting inside a old mans barn for 17 years and was looking in a right state.

Original plans were to strip of down for parts for my black cl coupe and make a trailer buy it ended up being the complete opasite it is just to good to break up.

Took the whole weekend of cutting back paint and mopping but came up a treat £300 later she passed mot with no advisories and runs so dam well with only 54.000 on the clock.

Parts needed were.

Exhaust system (standard)

Dam good service (obviously)

Battery (again obvious)

Breaks all round

Put my snowflakes on

Cambelt and water pump change (for good measure)

Fresh fuel.

Other then that she runs a treat!

Coilovers are in the way 

AFH box to be fitted 

Arch and will trims 

And refurbished snowflakes all round :)

cheers mate took some doing but worth it by next year hopefully have AFH in and running nicely too

Hi guys quick update on the fox treated her to new coilovers with hub and bearings top mount bushes and track rod ends changed handles a lot better and not like a boat ? 

 

Also so have a valver 6n as a donor car for AFH conversion ?

Cant wait to see the progress of the AFH engine conversion. You gona be running standard injection or bike carbs?

Will be on injection dude not going carb route may do in future 

right guys a slight update on the fox i managed to find the time over the weekend pulling the AFH lump and loom out of the donor 6N,

 

But unfortunately will not be fitting to most probably beginning of next year as we have just purchased a house so this will be safely tucked away in my new garage 

and whilst its out it will be painted,head skimmed etc,all belts changed and a good service ready to be dropped in its new engine bay .

It will sadly be on standard injection rather then carbs sorry to say!

 

As you can see i couldn't wait to mock fit the 4-2-1 Mani 

 

On another note flo now has fitted ARB blocks which has made the world of difference to the handling courtesy of   kwijibo_coupe cheers again dude 

As we have just purchased a house the AFH conversion will have to be put on hold for now but at least she will be stored dry in a garage each night now with room around to work on, 

i will be skimming the head changing all gaskets and belts etc with a fresh lick of paint on the AFH before it gets dropped in.

Take your time with the conversion no point rushing etc. As you got the whole doner car id swap the front brakes too as there bigger than the originals '256mm'  . Keep up the good work.

unfortunately i have scrapped the donor car now didnt think of the brakes ill cross that bridge when it comes to it haha,

will be taking time as want it reliable as possible

Just to let you know the original's will be 239mm, and the 6n would of had 256mm

i am hoping to be at the social next year lets see if time and money allow!  but as said i will be taking time on this im in no rush :)

*Update on the AFH build i couldn't resist going carb route in the end  but this is not the AFH you see in the pictures above from the donor 6N, i sourced a couple more and made one good one out the parts i had.

This included ported and polished head

rebuilt bottom end (apparently) 

and boxes of brand new pipes and fittings etc.

 

I got hold of a brand new rocker cover gasket and set to work on removing the old one ( 4 hours and a old cheap pik).

Painted rocker cover, Also hand painted the lettering DOHC 16V (steady hand needed ) 

New HT Leads.

Vac advance dizzy with new cap and rotor arm.

new cam-belt and water pump fitted along with all other service parts required.

Mk2 loom which is in the process of being tucked and hidden away including coil pack

Bracket made to ensure third bolt of 2F engine mount is secured.

2F fly wheel and 2F late slim starter used.

 

it was a 1.0 Friday afternoon and by the evening the AFH was in and sparking.

Sunday came we had her fired up and my god it sounded awesome rather loud but it only had the manifold on.

manifold has plenty of clearance to the ARB too so shouldn't be any problems there.

im hoping by this weekend for it to be complete and ready to drive again.
