Seagull's 2003 Polo 9n/Mk6

Featured Replies

Say hi to Nadine, my first car.

(Click "Show" for details: Engine, Suspension, etc.)

Model:
Polo 9n/Mk6, E trim[1]

Engine:
1.4 16v 75ps

Suspension:
Stock

Brakes:
Stock

Wheels & Tyres:
4x Audi Pepperpot Alloys (8L0601025E).
4 x Hankook I'cept Evo W310 195/50 R15 H (82), Winter Tyres

Exterior Styling:
Stock

Interior Styling:

Audi A3 Gear Knob, Aftermarket Heater Knobs, Chrome Dial Surrounds (to be fitted).

ICE & Security:
VW RMT 100 Headunit, Mobius ActionCam as front dashcam.

Notes:
[1]: The trim level in the car suggests it's an E trim level, yet 2003 Polo brochures don't show the E model avaliable with a 1.4 16v 75ps engine... :unknw:

Nadine is a 5 door, 1.4 Polo 9n in Summer Blue (LA5F).
I haven't done all that much to the car as of yet, just fixing things mostly.

To keep the OP from getting cluttered, I'll post new mods and updates in a new post (with images if possible) in the thread, add the mod in the list above, and then provide a link to the specific post.
It should make finding things easier. :D

Future Plans

("?" means I'm not sure)
Soon-ish:
3D Gel Resin Number Plates, with VW branded surround.
Colour coded interior trim.
Arm rest.
Mud flaps.

Colour coded exterior trim (bump strips, valances & mirrors)?
Sunglasses 8-) holder (replaces driver grab handle).

Hardwire dashcam.
LED-ify everything! =P
Fog lights.
Switched Aux fuse box, for accessories.

Chrome Grill
Chrome boot moulding trim? Tell me what you think of it.
9n3 tail lights.

Not so soon-ish:
Black roof?
Window tint?
Full Votex kit (If I can find one:search:
).

Coilovers (not in "Soon-ish" due to insurance company being run by boring people).
Leather seats (either seats, or custom covers)

End Game:
1.8t Quattro conversion

(I'll post any mods done before I made this thread, tomorrow in a reply complete with pictures =P)

  • I looked at getting the same heater control knobs ! I fancy taking the dash plastics off and hydro dipping them , nothing to crazy, just want to brighten up the interior

Hey, so it's been a while.  So I fitted new 9n3 tail lights, looking good imo.   Then I de-badged the tailgate, very little paint fade actually, a wee polish and it was practically un-noticeable

Can you get black interior Roof trim ?

Iv just ordered sunglasses holder, de wiper/bee sting and pressed metal plates haha

I have seen images of Mk6 Polos with black roof trim/liner, I'm not sure if that's factory fitted or not.

But you can just buy some black, foam backed suede-like material off eBay, remove the current liner, scrape off the foam, use a spray adhesive, stick it on.

There's a few tutorials on YouTube and such, pretty much the same process for most cars.

That's what I plan on doing eventually :P

Stuff I did before the thread.

RMT 100 headunit. New heater control knobs (just temp, until I find a set of OEM ones with the little chrome bits.)

EvNFAH4.jpg?1

Audi A3 gear stick.

IayNUnm.jpg?1yiTkZrp.jpg?2

Audi Pepperpots with VW badge centres. (Now with added mud)

And not really a mod, but I was reading my manual and it says the bracket is for holding a first aid kit, which I thought it was to hold a fire extinguisher (which it can).

And this was done after creating the thread but I'll just add it here.

3D gel resin (pressed plate style) number plates.

Maybe it's just my dash, but they're a little harder to turn than the standard knobs but nothing too bad. But I really want these ones.

And I do plan on painting the centre console to match the body colour, remove all that horrible soft touch rubbish =P

Yep they are the ones I want ! What do they come off ?

My pressed metal plates turned up today , not bad for £19.99!

I believe they're off the Polo 6r (and other VWs of similar age, maybe).

Then on Friday the 13th (of course), of May, this happened.

Made a rather big dent in my boot and cracked one of my new tail lights, not a week after fitting them.

Insurance wanted to write off the car, I managed to retain the car for a 20% reduction from the settlement.
So in the end it worked out ok, the settlement is more than enough to pay for the repairs.

Don't stall at roundabouts people.
And be weary of Kia's >_>

The rear end of my Polo is finally fully healed (and improved).

  • 1 year later...

Did you find it quite easy to change to 9N3 taillights?
