Afternoon all.

Was looking for a small proper car, not a plastic kinder egg one, and found my first polo (1.2 petrol match, 2008). Pretty smitten to be honest, it's like driving a skate. Thought I should learn more about it and maybe make it a little cooler.

First question if anyone can help... The key is a standard flat blade with button which seems to operate no more than a defunct light, and has attached a weird green 'sterling' fob which operates the central locking. Did the car have remote locking as a retro fit then please? And is there anyway I can get a new fob as I think my little polo deserves better.

Without seeing the fob it sounds like a previous owner has fitted an aftermarket system?? You can fit the factory unit, the details are in this thread http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=204921

Thank you, glad to have found this site. Is the factory unit the mechanics or the controller? If it's the mechanics, can I replace the controller without fitting a new factory unit please? Sorry if being a bit dense.

The factory route involves replacing the "Comfort Control Module" under the dash, usually sourced from ebay, there is no mechanical changes just the module, all the details are in that link
