Gonna be doing front wheel bearings shortly. I see there are a few options regarding replacing the front brake caliper slider pins.

I have a 1999 VW Polo 1L (6N1) 3 door.

Anyone point me in the right direction regarding the caliber pins?

N 90329104 allen key head bolt M8X49 /

You can find them on ebay but they're not much cheaper than genuine ones from VW/TPS

If you don't already have a set, I would suggest that you treat yourself to 'Allen Sockets' - these are in fact hexagon keys in a half inch square drive sockets to fit your socket set.

As those caliper bolts are open to the elements, they tend to rust, so if you try to remove them with a conventional Allen 'key', you risk rounding off the internal corners. With the above tools, you can tap them deeper into the bolt heads, reducing the risk of them slipping.

You would also be well advised to replace the hollow guide pins (that the above mentioned bolts pass through) and the nylon bushes, plus the protective rubber sheaths.

I can't remember if they come as a kit, or are individual items, but as Nige says, you may as well get the genuine VW ones.
