Polo 6n2 Rear drum removal

Featured Replies

Hi lads, I recently had a few wheel changes and at some stage the threads on one hole on the rear left got shagged. Question is, is there anything I need to look out for before I take off the drum and run a tap through the threads?

To be honest it may be quicker and safer to change the whole hub with bearing, that way you know it's done correct....

you I know, but until then I want to see if I get the 4th stud back into it. Does the drum just pull off?

You might have to de adjust the rear shoes then 1 screw and whack the drum and should come off.

Sound job, I'll take it off this weekend and change the shoes anyways. Thanks pal!

There should be a small screw that locates the drum on the stub axle, you might need to push the self adjuster wedge up to allow the shoes to retract a bit to clear the wear ridge in the drums, here's the instructions 6N2 Removing and installing brake drum.doc

Thanks Nige. I was wondering if there was a walkthrough!
