Polo Breadvan project for my daughter and I

Featured Replies

OK, I have a thread on detailing world of the Polo Breadvan that i bought as a project / investment for my 11yr old daughter and I to complete. I thought i had put a thread on here but realised it was part on my new polo 6n thread so here goes.

The car was bought off ebay and this is how it was advertised:

Refreshing to see a clean car being tidied up nicely instead of slammed on 9j wide wheels with cut up arches and a bike carb conversion. Keep up the good work :)

And to my surprise there was only a small amount of surface rust, no major work needed. Just needs a wire brush, paint and underseal and final coat of paint to the body colour.

Oh and then its the N/S. At last the weather is going I'm my favour too

Loads of photos! My kind of build thread :D

The navy paint and light grey interior go really well together.

Thanks mate. I have pictures of the clean interior back in the car but thats on my tablet so i will add those soon

Love it and good work. How and what did you wash your seats with ?

  • Author

I used 1001 carpet cleaner on a cloth. I put it on neat and let it soak in. I agitated it with a soft tooth brush. I have a Karcher steam cleaner to get any stubborn stains out. Finally i rinsed it with a hose and let it air dry

Thank you and my I say your daughter is very lucky :D

Looks great mate. What's the plan? Keep it original and clean it up?

I really like that colour too.

If you mean the white 6N, check out my threat on this forum.

No, the breadvan mate :-p

  • Author

Ahh i see, my mistake. I would like to keep it original apart from a set of GTI steels which i already have but are waiting for me to refurb them.

Edited by volksfan1

Nice, good to hear. She a 1l 4 speed?

  • Author

Yes mate, keeping it stock keeps the value

I agree I need to take more pics of my mk2f bready and boulevard coupe in same colurs as I'm keeping them original just put new clutch and fuel ⛽ tank today

This is a nice thread - here we have a genuine breadvan which has fallen into the usual poverish but unabusive ownership for a number of years, fought it's way through on build quality and charm, and finally reached the hands of someone who's seen it for what it is and what it deserves - subsequently given it some love and brought it up to an admirable state. Well done that man, this is always a great sight to behold, and i expect the car is too.

Mikey certainly has a way with words [emoji14]

He's right though, I see so many falling victim to the treatment which kwijibo said and it's sad really, if it's going to be modified it should at least be done properly :)

Good to see this one has found a decent owner like yourself, well done for cleaning that interior up too, I shall try and repeat the same for mine!

  • Author

Thank you. Its was only a small amount of hard work to bring the interior back to an exceptable condition, very nearly mint.

Whilst the wings are off I'm going to replace the discs and pads too.

Its also going to get a full service and have the belts replaced too

Looks fantastic and great work again seats look brand new well done :D

I like where this is going, good thread! Nice to see another in the same colour as mine

Well done! I bought my saloon under the thinly veiled excuse it was a project for me and my oldest son. Its just a way of getting another project past the wife really ;) When i read the bit about 'Detailing World' I prepared myself for a multitude of acronyms and 50/50 photos of just how effective the 4 bucket system, 1000's of man-hours and hundreds of pounds worth of fairy sweat was used to 'correct' your paint…….What a relief!!

Loving the work you've done so far, I'm amazed at how well the interior has cleaned up, the car has clearly found a good home. I look forward to further updates :)
