It was through a broker and they said they will buy it. I will ring DVLA over the next couple of days and see.

Refreshing to see a clean car being tidied up nicely instead of slammed on 9j wide wheels with cut up arches and a bike carb conversion. Keep up the good work :)

  • This is a nice thread - here we have a genuine breadvan which has fallen into the usual poverish but unabusive ownership for a number of years, fought it's way through on build quality and charm, and

  • Loads of photos! My kind of build thread The navy paint and light grey interior go really well together.

It is a tidy breadvan and with all of the new / replacement parts is worth the asking money to be honest

From a quick Google it seems you can, but the car needs to have an MOT :(

However if the car has had a plate transfer in the past i.e. someone put a private plate on it then took it off and the car got its original plate back, that plate then becomes 'non-transferable' or in other words it is stuck to that car. You can still put a private plate on it. But the original plate will always be associated with that car.

Maybe some things have changed now as the threads I found were a few years old. But they were the top results for what I searched.

Thanks for the advice and taking the time to research it.

The broker said so long as the car is in my name on the V5 it can be done and the website asks if the car has an MOT before they do their valuation.

As I said, i will contact DVLA to check and im not in any rush to sell, just seeing if there is any interest . I may leave it until after New Year and do the work and then sell it. The value of the plate will only go up and not down. There are other brokers that I can try too.

Shame all your hard work and now it's going :-( so are we saying 800 with the plate ?

  • Author

It is a lot of hard work but with my daughter there too it was quality time too so someone may benefit from it

Thats what i was thinking, but im not greedy so offers would be welcome too.

As i have been offered £500 for the registration number that is what brings the price up.

Looks like it was a nice tidy example to start with. Looks even nicer now. Good luck with it!

Had an email from DVLA, i can sell the registration number if needed

Just to clear up a point, The different colours to the left of the rear quarter on this picture is the sunlight on the car and not different colour paint or primer.

No real interest in the breadvan, even though it has all the parts with it, new parts, to get it back on the road im starting to rebuild it. Deep down I didn't want to get rid of it as its a very good car so started this morning

Need to put the N/S front wing on after sourcing a replacement aerial and then replace the old parts with the new ones then MOT time, all in good time though

I put the car up on ebay, currently has 25 watchers, had a few enquiries and 2 who were going to view the car this morning but 1 changed his mind, i don't have an issue with that and the other did not make contact - don't know why people do that.

Also put it on Gumtree but after 15 phones calls up to 10 pm i thought that would be all until today but NO. The I'm drunk so i will call people off Gumtree and P them off brigade started to emerge. 2am was my last call so i had to pull the advert.

Again, dumfounded, I have to ask WHY????

I now have 12 blocked numbers on my mobile.

cant believe your having so much trouble shifting this after all the work and new parts on it

People want something for nothing. One guy asked me if it had air con and ABS ?????
I knew that there was no way i was going to sell it to him.

After the work i have put into it I think it deserves a good home and caring, knowledgable owner for me to pass it on to
