just joined yesterday and thought i'de share a few pics of my MK2 saloon.

Bought the car last year just at the end of summer been off the road for 6 years and it showed in a good few places. She had a bit of rot in a couple of places namely drivers side sill, inner sill and outer floor and a jacking point on the other side i also had to cut out a bit of welding that a previous owner had a go at. engine ran sweet and the gearbox is fine. started of with the welding well attempted to but began grinding only to notice a great big puddle of petrol coming out of the lip of the tank so stopped there to avoid blowing up the garage, pulled tank ordered a new one and sill then began again.

needed a few more odds and ends before test new rear bearings all lights needed rewiring few perished rubbers etc.

anyway got it through a test end of october passed without advisories. so started using it as my daily drove spot on for a week when my fan belt gave up and a nice lump of it made its way into my timing cover and pulled the cambelt round which gave me a lovely set of bent valves couple of weeks pass partly due to a parts supplier sending me the wrong valves and having the nerve to say i was wrong. i had her back running after just buying another head and from then to now its just been a case of work my way through and replace whats on its way out.

As for the car its a bit on the tatty side lacquer peel on literally every inch of the care minus one back quarter so shes in need of a respray. was lowered 60 40 when i bought it but now its completely standard and staying that was as up to now i haven't seen another standard saloon on the road so i decided to keep one as it came from the shop.

have some picture down below and another engine in the works to bring a bit of lost power back.

Any major plans?

main two are engine and paint already pulled a spare engine apart to rebuild so the plan is to start with that. the only thing on the car i plan to change is the carb, i have a pierburg with the other engine which i'm not too fond of. currently run a weber 32 tla which is currently giving me an issue (been through everything and still only idles on occasion rest of the time it'll cut out) so in future i may change to a progressive weber as i live in quite a hilly area so could do with a tiny bit more poke out of it.

as for painting it i dont have the funds there yet sadly i do have a mate who will give me mates rates but it will be done as a back burner job and as its currently my daily it'll have to wait. for now i'm just going to keep working through the mechanicals and renew what looks old and tired.
