If that's a Blue/Grey wire going to it? it's instrument/switch lighting

Thank you for the reply. Where would that plug into? I'm in in the closing stages of a re-shell and am ironing out the kinks

Any other wire colours going into the plug ?

No two wires go into the plug both grey/blue. The plug is single pin

I can't find anything on the wiring diagrams but they're not the factory diagrams, all I can suggest is look at all the switches etc that have backlighting in them and see if there is a single pin socket that matches that connector

could it be the brightness adjuster? do mk3's have them?

scrap that idea

whereabouts is it dangling from, any other connectors in the loom near it? it will most likely terminate near them

Passenger foot well. I've had a look at the loom and the plug is adjacent to the multiplug for the dash controls (heaters, etc.)
