Looking to buy either a gripper diff or Quaife helical diff.

Done a bit of research and people are saying the helical diff doesn't lock up properly, or when your are wheel spinning it doesn't lock up like a conventional LSD. Just spins up like the diff is open.

But in the other hand the gripper diff isn't the best for everyday road use but more for track use because it locks and judders and makes terrible noises.

Looking for a diff which does best of both worlds, want a locking diff but want something comfy for road use also too.

Anyone shed some lights on this for me? And also any gearbox guru's who can fit the diff into a gear box for me please? Thanks in advance :)

The quaife will only not lock when a wheel is completely lifted from the floor and there's no resistance at a wheel. When youre wheel spinning on tarmac it will lock properly.

Even though the Quaife has more moving parts, it is a more reliable and longer lasting diff and much more friendly daily driving and also a better track diff than a gripper in my opinion just from knowledge of how they work.

If you only want to change the diff and do nothing else to the gearbox then splitting the gearbox is all that you will have to do providing you have the riveted crown wheel that is necessary to fit the Quaife LSD. The bearings have to be taken off the diff or replaced on to the LSD as well as the plastic speedo gear. You will need the specialist bolts that hold the crown wheel to the LSD.
