Mk2f slam panel

Featured Replies

My gt has been in a bit of a accident, I'm planning on changing the slam panel/front panel, can anyone explain how to remove it? Is it welded or bolted?

Hi mate,

exact thing happened to me and well I'm happy to say that my cars back to the way it was ;). It is welded on to the body of the car so removal of one from a donor is tricky. I found a german copy manufacturer on eBay and got a replacement. it was pretty similar but, it doesn't feel anything like the original. As expected from a copy its lighter, thinner cheaper as a whole. When it cam down to fitting the headlights eat. everything came along ok expect my grill which is a de badged one. It didn't fit exactly as the retaining holes where placed a little lower than where my grills clips aligned. So with a bit of fiddling i got it in not 100% and my mechanic put in to discreet screws which aren't noticeable. but it set me back £600 in costs to repair back to the way I had it however, I had the wings, bonnet and slam panel re sprayed as well.
