I have a Polo S 2010.

When driving tonight, I was coming to a stop and the car acted as though it was going to stall (jerked and made the noise). I instinctively put my foot on the clutch and stopped normally.

I looked on the dash board and instantly noticed a battery light on. I pulled over and turned the engine off and back on. It remained.

I revved the car to 4K RPM and it remained on but also, at this RPM the oil pressure light started flashing and the dashboard started beeping.

I got out and checked. No oil on the road. No oil in the engine bay. Dip stick looked fine.

Noticed a loud rattle from engine compartment...

Towed the car home. Any ideas what may have happened? Obviously, the garage isnt open until Monday :'(

The car was serviced less than a week ago. Full major (inspection) service. In addition, Cam Belt changed less than 10,000 miles ago.

That sounds quiet bad. Mine rattles a bit but the warning lifts never come on unless something is fairly wrong. 

Check the battery terminals and earths are tight and that the oil sensors are plugged in and oil filter is on tight

You may well (hopefully) have electrical problems, BUT as you mention this loud rattle, I would strongly recommend that you have a mechanic check it out for you, as continued driving could well wreck the engine if you have in fact lost oil pressure.

NOTE: Just because there is sufficient oil in the engine, doesn't mean that the oil is being pumped around the engine, this is why it needs checking professionally.

Was a genuine VW oil filter used in the service (or at least a good quality one)? I ask this because cheap filters have been known to break up and block oil-ways.
