James's 6N2 GTI

Hey everyone, in February I purchased a little polo 6N2 GTI in a bid to cut down on the work mileage i was putting on the QS. This was supposed to be a cheap little A-B car and nothing else.............

When I got it home unfortunately it had developed a really noisey bearing sound coming from the gearbox,we assumed it was the release bearing failing, however the car was stuck in 5th gear and now needed a gearbox rebuild

This is how it sat for over a month while I found a gear box ready to be reconditioned/ upgraded.

When I finally had the gearbox replaced, we upgraded the bearing set, replaced the nasty 'death rivet' and I had the case shot peened and then filled up with Amsoil ATF. While the box was out i replaced the clutch with a sachs one as this nseemed to be the most highly recommended one on the forum.

While the car was broken, I managed to find a set of G60 Carriers and an immaculate set of BBS16" RX2's. I had the BBS's refurbed in chromax paint and the carriers powdercoated red. I then bought a set of Spax RSX coilovers, new discs and pads, miltek exhaust, top mounts and lots of other gubbins, and this is how it stands today! not the cheap runaround it started life as!!!
